FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DES MOINES, Iowa – On a dusty, bustling mock construction site, a machine no larger than a compact car is deftly maneuvering in spaces a traditional skid-steer would find claustrophobic. It’s not just moving dirt; it’s autonomously transporting pallets of bricks, switching to a sweeper attachment to clean a paved area, and then using its integrated forks to unload materials from a truck—all controlled by a single operator who, for part of the time, isn't even in the cab. This is the scene of the unveiling of the Vermeer CTX-100, a mini wheel Loader that its creators claim will fundamentally reshape the economics and logistics of confined-space work.
The mini wheel loader segment has long been the agile cousin of its larger, more powerful relatives. Valued for their versatility in tight quarters—from urban infill projects and landscaping to indoor demolition and agricultural barns—these machines have seen steady growth. Yet, Vermeer argues, their fundamental design and operation have remained stagnant. The CTX-100, developed under the project name "Stryker," is their answer.
"We asked ourselves, what if a mini loader wasn't just small, but was genuinely, intelligently adapted to the modern worksite?" said Sarah Chen, Vermeer's Vice President of Compact Equipment, addressing a crowd of journalists and industry analysts. "The CTX-100 isn't an evolution. It's a re-imagination from the ground up, focused on three pillars: unmatched versatility, operator-centric design, and integrated connectivity."
The "Quick-Switch" Revolution: One Machine, Ten-Minute Transformation
The most visually striking feature of the CTX-100 is its patented "Quick-Switch" front linkage. Unlike standard universal couplers, the Quick-Switch system is entirely tool-less. An operator can drive up to a rack of attachments—from a standard bucket to a trencher, a pneumatic hammer, or a specialized turf roller—and release and re-attach a new tool in under 15 seconds, without ever leaving the seat.
"The time lost manually fumbling with pins and hoses across a day is staggering," Chen explained. "We've calculated that the Quick-Switch system can reclaim up to 90 minutes of productive operator time per day. In a week, that's an extra day of work." A built-in, automatic attachment recognition system configures the machine's hydraulics and control settings the moment a new tool is locked in, eliminating guesswork and potential for error.
